I participated in a psych study assessing two different types of pain: physical vs. emotional. It involved measuring my brain's reactions to: 1) localized heat pain and 2) emotionally-charged images, by way of MRI scanning (I actually fell asleep in the machine, though not during the important parts, haha!).
Today there were follow-up questionnaires, and in one section I was asked to visualize certain things (eyes open vs. eyes closed) and assess clarity. The strange thing is, I think I visualize things better when I have my eyes open! How about you guys? Better open or closed?
No wonder I space out so much. It's so easy. Maybe my imagination is overlying reality (as opposed to underlying it). HM.

This is also interesting. If the girl spins clockwise for you, you're right-brain dominant. If she spins counterclockwise, you're left-brain dominant. Here are some of the rough differences between left and right brain function.
For me, the girl spins clockwise, and for the life of me I can't get her to change (one of my supposedly "ambi-lobal" friends can). Charles suggested I look at it upside down, and she did change direction like once or twice.
Not being able to look at her both ways is worrisome because it means that people, for reasons they cannot control, will necessarily look at things differently. :(
